The Medical Staff Coordinator supports Medical Staff and department by and providing current documentation for compliance with bylaws, rules and regulations, and regulatory agencies, collaborating with other departments, maintains call schedule and maintains credentialing software.
Supports compliance with bylaws, rules and regulations, and regulatory agencies by providing current regulatory documentation to MEC officers
+ Provide update requirements for compliance with The Joint Commission, state and federal requirements, and other standards and regulations
+ Embraces a philosophy of continual readiness with regard to all standards and regulations
+ Provides content for the medical staff and administration regarding the medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, and relevant hospital and medical staff policies in collaboration with the Medical Staff Services Director
+ Provide high level support for MEC hearings requiring that utmost accuracy, efficiency, knowledge, and confidentiality
Supports Medical Staff and department leadership while collaborating with other departments
+ Collaborates with the Risk/Patient Safety Department regarding quality assurance matters, peer review, evaluation, and ongoing professional practice evaluation activities per MEC officers or leadership needs
+ Provides timely response and service to all members of the medical staff, administration, and others to ensure service management excellence: acts as liaison between departments, committees, sections and MEC
+ Organizes and facilitates revisions to medical staff bylaws and rules and regulations upon direction from the Medical Staff Services, Director, Bylaws, Committee, Legal Counsel, and other appropriate bodies
+ Provides oversight for all medical department meetings and facilitates meeting follow-up
+ Responsible for oversight and accuracy of unreferred call schedule and application
+ Supports Department Director and Physician Leadership with special projects and initiatives as requested
Monitors and maintains credentialing software
+ Works collaboratively with the vendor to ensure the software is being used to its full potential and efficiency
+ Develops a process for data reviewing using available reports: collaborates with industry colleagues for best practice solutions
+ Provides data-driven reports upon request from the hospital and medical staff leaders
Education:
Required: High School or GED
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
+ In Healthcare or Business Administration
License or Certification:
Required: Certification
+ Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM)
Preferred: Certification
+ Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM)
Experience:
Required: 5 years of experience
+ Credentialing experience in a hospital medical staff services setting, two (2) years of leadership experience, or formal leadership training
Preferred: 8 years of experience
+ Credentialing experience in a hospital medical staff services setting and two (2) years of progressive leadership experience
Knowledge:
Advanced knowledge of reporting and reporting tools
Expertise in MD Staff, Microsoft Office applications and Outlook
Business operations including database management and software programs
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient in developing, analyzing, and presenting reports
Abilities:
Ability to use the computer for word processing, creating calendar events, and scheduling meetings
Communicate and collaborate with physicians and staff
Use discretion and independent judgement when problem solving or assisting with decision making processes
Effectively multi-task, prioritize, delegate, and organize work
Interpret regulations and guidelines
Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a healthcare/office environment.
Physical Demands: Frequent reaching, sitting, walking, and standing may be required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job.
