Job Description


We are looking for a Medical Records Specialist to work full-time in our clinic. Under leadership of the Department Leader, files, locates, logs, retrieves and delivers medical records as assigned. Supervises the medical records workflow and insures that the clinic is compliant with all state and federal laws as it pertains to medical records and HIPPA compliance.

Location: 100 E College Ave, Colby, Ks

Days: Monday through Friday

Hours: 8 am to 5 pm

Pay Range: dependent upon experience.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do:

  • Manage incoming and outgoing medical record requests.
  • Maintain accurate and orderly files.
  • Ensure that EMR is producing required records and reports.
  • Enforce consistent procedures are being used by all staff that enter medical information in the EMR.
  • Understand the requirements that need to be met under the meaningful use standards as applied to Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Assist in the development of our EMR to produce reports that demonstrate our compliance with the aforementioned standards.
  • Manage medical record invoices, including mailing out invoices, following up on payments not received, and logging all payments received.
  • Scan medical record information in to the clinic\xe2\x80\x99s information system.
  • Link digital documents to patient\xe2\x80\x99s electronic medical record.
  • Manage incoming faxes to ensure they are linked appropriately according to HIPAA and RHC regulations.
  • Complete other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, trouble shooting and maintaining medical records portion of the software system.
What You Bring To The Table:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a medical office and a knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
  • Possess interpersonal skills needed to function in a "team" setting
  • Able to use ten-key adding machine, possesses computer skills.
  • Able to type 45-60 words per minute.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction.
  • Ability to sort and file material correctly by alphabetic or numeric system.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
  • Able to follow instructions with a minimum of supervision.
