(Part-Time) Medical Records Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:



Maintain, organize, and protect resident medical records in compliance with state and federal regulations (HIPAA). Accurately file, update, and retrieve resident health information as needed by staff or authorized parties. Process admissions, transfers, discharges, and chart updates in a timely manner. Assist in preparing medical charts for physician visits, audits, and surveys. Ensure confidentiality of resident information at all times. Respond to requests for medical records from residents, families, and authorized agencies. Track, log, and archive inactive records according to policy. Collaborate with nursing and administrative staff to support care documentation.

Qualifications and Skills:



Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Previous experience in healthcare records, medical office administration, or clerical work preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
