We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
Greet patients and visitors warmly, establishing a welcoming atmosphere while managing check-in and check-out processes.
Verify patient insurance coverage through insurance verification procedures, including Medicare and other third-party payers.
Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
Collect and process payments, including co-pays and outstanding balances, utilizing medical billing and collection procedures.
Manage incoming calls with professional phone etiquette on multi-line phone systems, addressing inquiries related to appointments, billing, or general clinic information.
Maintain accurate medical records by updating patient files in various EHR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including care plans, medical notes, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and other medical documentation review tasks.
Assist with front desk duties such as filing, faxing, scanning documents, and managing office supplies to support seamless clinic operations.
Support medical administrative functions by coordinating patient intake processes and assisting with medical scheduling to optimize provider time.
Ensure confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA standards at all times.
Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth patient flow and effective communication across departments.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office support role; clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft or similar platforms.
Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, and medical billing procedures.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (10-key typing).
Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately and handle billing collections professionally.
Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person; bilingual abilities are a plus.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and record management.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to health information management and patient privacy protection.
Experience working with multi-line phone systems and managing appointment schedules efficiently.
Previous office management or clerical experience within a healthcare setting is advantageous.
