We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our holistic healthcare team. As a Medical Receptionist, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, patient records, insurance verification, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your role is vital in providing exceptional patient service while supporting the clinical staff with administrative tasks. Duties
Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a welcoming environment at the front desk.
Schedule patient appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks to facilitate seamless billing processes.
Collect payments and perform medical collections in accordance with established protocols.
Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures efficiently while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Review and update patient documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness of medical records and care plans.
Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing clear communication and appointment confirmations.
Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate patient intake, follow-up appointments, and laboratory or diagnostic scheduling.
Support office management tasks such as inventory control of medical supplies and office equipment maintenance.
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for report generation, correspondence, and data entry tasks.
Uphold high standards of customer service by addressing patient inquiries promptly and courteously while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
Skills
Knowledge of medical administrative support functions within a healthcare setting.
Understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, and documentation review processes.
Experience preferred with insurance verification procedures.
Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional communication skills--both verbal and written--and phone etiquette to interact professionally with patients and staff alike.
Strong computer skills including typing, data entry accuracy, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for administrative tasks.
