Horizon Eye Specialists and LASIK Center is a busy ophthalmology practice that has been serving patients in the valley for 40 years. We are patient-centered and fast-paced, with friendly and talented eye surgeons and physicians.

We are currently seeking a full-time Patient

Collections Specialist who can successfully investigate patient insurance benefits and eligibility and perform other administrative tasks within the Billing Department. This position is located at our Windrose office in the Paradise Valley (Phoenix) area.

Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Primary Responsibilities:

Call/contact 80+ patients per day to collect past due balances per day.

Collect $2500-$3500 per week.

Use different means of communication available to you to contact patients (patient portal, Vital Interaction, mail, phone call).

Clearly document efforts to collect payment and conversations that are had with patients regarding their balances and insurance coverage.

Process refunds or request them when an account has a negative patient balance.

Set up payment plans and keep them current.

Prepare lists of patients that need to be sent to collections.

Adjust patient balances when they are sent to an outside collection agency.

Answer incoming patient calls regarding patient's insurance coverage and/or past due balances.

Complete projects for the Revenue Cycle Manager as they arise.

Ideal Qualifications / Skills:

Ability to handle patient phone calls compassionately and efficiently regarding balances and insurance coverage.

MUST be a team player

Takes initiative to complete projects as they arise.

Accurate data entry

Excellent organization and prioritization skills.

Moderate knowledge of eligibility and prior authorizations

Required / Preferred Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent (required)

1-2 years experience in a medical office (required)

1-2 years experience in medical billing (recommended).

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
