Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance information, ensuring accuracy in medical records, and facilitating communication between patients and insurance providers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of managed care, medical terminology, and coding practices. This position is essential in maintaining the integrity of our billing processes and ensuring that patients receive the benefits they are entitled to.

Duties

Conduct thorough insurance verification for patients prior to their appointments. Review and update patient medical records to ensure accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Communicate with insurance companies to confirm coverage details and eligibility for services. Utilize CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes to accurately document services rendered. Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve any discrepancies in patient information or billing issues. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of managed care policies and procedures as well as changes in insurance regulations. Assist with front desk check in/out and phones. Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding their insurance coverage.

Requirements

Previous experience in a medical office or dental office setting is preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification processes, and medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10). Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality. Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives. Proficient in using office software and electronic health record systems. Prior experience managing medical records is a plus.
