Position Summary

The part-time instructor shall perform duties and responsibilities in collaboration with the Program Chair, Clinical Coordinator and Clinical Preceptors. As a part time adjunct instructor in the Medical Dosimetry program, the individual is responsible for teaching, observing and evaluating in clinical settings. Other responsibilities include participation in assessing student learning outcomes; developing, revising, and implementing curriculum; maintaining current knowledge and skills in the area of assignment; building collaborative relationships within the BC community and the radiation oncology community at large; demonstrating a strong commitment to student success and fostering a positive, caring learning environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion.

The clinical instructor will observe students in the clinical environment. The mode of observation is hybrid and must consist of both face to face and virtual. Virtual visits require internet use, webcam, microphone, and apps such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Clinical locations across the U.S. require travel and lodging due to widespread geographical range. Instructor must follow program schedules and learning outcomes associated with all clinical courses: DOSM 400, 401, 402, 403, 404, 405 and 406.

There are four quarters in one academic year. Typical quarter is 11 weeks in length. Each student must have one midterm clinical observation of 6-8 hours and one final clinical observation of 6-8 hours. Total clinical Instruction per student: Twelve to sixteen hours per student per quarter.

Instructor time commitment examples: Two students require a total 24-32 hours per quarter. Three students require a total 36-48 hours per quarter, etc. The number of students per instructor will vary based on demand and availability.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule

Pay rate varies depending on course load and type. Starting pay for 24 hours of individual clinical visitation is $1062.74. Pay for clinical visitation varies by number of students each quarter. Part-time faculty is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis.

About the Department

The mission of the Bellevue College medical dosimetry program is to provide a strong didactic education in medical dosimetry that advances the student\'s knowledge and develops current clinical skills to prepare graduates to become medical dosimetrists with the necessary knowledge and skills to plan treatments safely and competently and deliver quality patient care. The medical dosimetry program affirms the Bellevue College mission, vision and core values by placing the needs of students first and supporting and promoting the excellence of their efforts.

Essential Functions

  • Promote teaching and learning in medical dosimetry and clinical setting.
  • Assess student learning outcomes and provide students with timely written and verbal feedback.
  • May participate in curriculum revisions with the integration of the latest research aimed at continuous improvement and new course development.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching and learning strategies and innovative techniques including the integration of technology and the latest research to assist students in the achievement of learning outcomes and assessment of learning.
  • Participate in work with the advisory committee to engage community interests in Medical Dosimetry education.
  • Refer students to appropriate college resources as necessary.
  • Participate in professional development activities related to teaching and learning theory and education in Medical Dosimetry.
  • Maintain Certified Medical Dosimetry (CMD) credentials.
  • Maintain clinical onboarding requirements.
  • Actively support student success in alignment with college diversity goals, initiatives, and activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Certified Medical Dosimetry(CMD) credentials
  • Two (2) years of experience working in dosimetry
  • Flexibility to meet scheduled clinical times
  • Ability to travel to Bellevue College clinical affiliates
  • Prior experience in supervising students in a clinical setting
  • For clinical onboarding: BLS CPR, immunizations up to date
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s Degree
  • Prior teaching experience at the community or college level
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluation, instruction, and advising
  • Additional modality certifications
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in coordinating, department scheduling and quality assurance
