Community Clinic of Maui, Inc. dba Malama I Ke Ola Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and a fully integrated behavioral health, dental, and primary care system. Our 100+ professionals and providers serve the people of Maui at three clinics\xe2\x80\x94two locations in Wailuku and one in Lahaina. We have behavioral health providers who partner with the primary care clinicians to assist in a vast number of activities including warm handoffs for acute behavioral health crisis management, substance abuse counseling, tobacco cessation counseling, chronic disease self management counseling, and long-term individual and family therapy. We have been serving the Maui community since 1993. Since 2015, we have served over 11,000 patients of which 97% are living at or below 200% of the Federal poverty level. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS * Ongoing patient care, providing care 24 hours/day with shared call coverage as arranged by CCM, with emphasis on women\xe2\x80\x99s health.

  • Provides direct patient care in clinic as scheduled that is comprehensive and trauma-informed.
  • Provides in-patient care to hospitalized clinic patients as necessary, including obstetrical deliveries and gynecological surgical procedures, as scheduled or during call. Meets all hospital requirements for staff privileges, including serving as physician for patients with no physician who need admission from the hospital based on the hospital call schedule.
  • Is available after hours to staff and patients as required; maintains communication devices to be active and charged. Shares hospital call with CCM and Kaiser OBs.
  • Supervises nurse practitioner when appropriate.
  • Using our EMR, promptly documents medical care and maintains accurate and thorough medical records according to established policies and procedures for the clinic
  • Completes medical forms for patient care and insurance purposes.
  • Investigates and intervenes into potential and actual problem situations regarding patient care.
  • Communicates and collaborates patient care with patient/family, and other health care team professionals.
  • Maintains a safe environment (equipment, condition of physical plant, universal precautions, biohazard disposal, etc.)
  • At least annually reviews medical policies, procedures and protocols of the clinic.
  • Performs staff in-service and training relevant to current needs of the clinic, and participates in the orientation, training and development of clinic personnel, including physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, medical students and others as needed.
  • Implements a medical quality assurance program which includes all activities of monitoring and evaluation to assure and improve the quality of care services provided.
  • Meets with clinic personnel when requested, participates in staff meetings, educational presentations, and other activities.
  • Maintains current CPR certification and other certifications and licenses as required.
  • Maintains effective work relationships with clinic personnel and the public.
  • Adheres to the CCM\xe2\x80\x99s policies and procedures.
OTHER DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS: * Attends and participates in meetings and committees as requested by the OB/GYN Managing Physician, Chief Medical Officer, and/or Chief Executive Officer.
  • Prepares and submits reports for Quality Improvement, incidents, funding, and grant proposals as requested by Executive Management
  • Participates in research activities as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of medicine, OB/Gyn specialty.
  • Current license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification course.
  • TB clearance within past 12 months from start date
  • COVID vaccination status: vaccine card or acceptable medical or religious exemption.
Experience: Three years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in clinical practice preferred, FQHC experience preferred.

Skills:
  • Computer literacy: Ability to understand and operate necessary computer equipment and software programs.
  • Electronic Health Records competence.
