Job Description

Memorial Community Health, Inc. is looking for a Medical Coder for Memorial Health Clinic in Aurora, NE. This is a full time position, Monday through Friday. This position will handle in house, outpatient and inpatient coding. Experience is preferred.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent

One (1) year of previous coding experience preferred

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations:

Certified Coder by the AAPC or AHIMA preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10

Knowledge of medical terminology

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Assigns accurate codes abstracting pertinent patient information from inpatient, swing bed, and outpatient records. Analyzes medical record documentation to determine the principal diagnosis and procedures and all conditions associated with the encounter. Queries health care providers when code assignments are not straight forward or documentation in the record is inadequate or unclear for coding purposes. Provides technical expertise to clinical and non-clinical staff to identify and resolve coding and medical record/chart documentation problems. Assists with provider education in appropriate clinical documentation. Works closely with the Business Office and other departments to ensure the accuracy of coding for billing and documentation purposes. Helps wherever else needed. Works with clearing house to answer questions and investigate coding issues identified by them.
