Billing Specialist - Medical Practice (Full-Time)

The Women's Health Group, P.A. is seeking an experienced

Billing Specialist

to join our busy OB/GYN medical practice. This position plays a key role in the financial health of the practice and requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of medical billing workflows.

Position Summary



The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing patient accounts, establishing and monitoring payment plans and patient contracts, posting and collecting payments, managing outstanding accounts receivable, reviewing and following up on claim denials, and assisting patients with billing-related questions. This position requires independent problem solving, the ability to interpret EOBs and remittance advice, and a strong working knowledge of insurance processing rules for the State of Kansas.

Key Responsibilities



Manage patient balances, payment arrangements, and OB/global care contracts Accurately read, interpret, and act on insurance EOBs and remits with limited assistance Process and track patient payments, refunds, adjustments, and collections Work AR worklists and prioritize accounts to reduce aging Identify, understand, and resolve common denial codes (CO/PR/OA/PI categories) Submit corrected claims, appeals, and supporting documentation as needed Communicate professionally with patients, insurance representatives, and internal teams Maintain a working understanding of claim forms (CMS-1500), payer requirements, and timely filing rules Verify benefits when needed and assist with patient financial counseling Support the Billing Office Manager and participate in improvement projects

Qualifications



Required:

2+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting

Required:

Strong understanding of insurance processing guidelines, especially Kansas payers (BCBS KS, UHC, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, etc.)

Required:

Ability to interpret EOBs, denial codes, and payer correspondence

Required:

Familiarity with CPT/HCPCS, diagnosis codes, and claim form structure

Preferred:

Experience with OB/GYN billing or global maternity claims

Preferred:

Certification such as CMRS (Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist) or CPB (Certified Professional Biller), but not required

Not required:

Coding certification (CPC) -- we already have certified coders on staff

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
