Job Description

Medical Billing and Coding for Eye Clinic. Biller/Coder will be responsible for translating optometry and ophthalmology-specific diagnoses and procedures into codes, submitting claims to insurance companies, following up on payments, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Will be responsible for handling patient inquiries, and maintaining accurate records for reimbursement. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 2 years minimum experience with medical billing and coding. Preferred candidates will have knowledge of eye-specific coding.

Key Responsibilities:

Coding services:

Review patient records to assign the correct CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.

Billing and invoicing:

Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and send invoices to patients for remaining balances.

Payment and collections:

Track and collect payments from insurance companies and patients, which may include setting up payment plans.

Claim resolution:

Investigate and resolve rejected insurance claims by correcting errors or appealing denials to ensure maximum reimbursement.

Compliance:

Ensure all billing and coding practices comply with healthcare regulations and laws, such as HIPAA.

Data management:

Accurately enter and manage patient and insurance information in the billing system.

Liaising:

Act as a liaison between patients, medical offices, and insurance companies.
Essential skills:

Proficiency with computer and billing software Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) Understanding of insurance and the claims process Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to regulations

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
