Job Description

We are an expanding dermatology practice seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder and Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating timely collections. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the overall billing cycle within a medical office environment.

Duties

Review and analyze patient medical records to ensure accurate charge entry and proper CPT/ICD-10 coding. Submit claims to insurance carriers electronically or via paper in compliance with payer-specific requirements. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, including resubmissions, appeals, and corrections. Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization/referral requirements prior to billing. Apply appropriate modifiers and ensure proper documentation for medical necessity. Post insurance and patient payments, adjustments, and handle patient billing inquiries.
Requirements

Proven experience in medical billing, coding, and collections within a healthcare setting. Proficient in DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and other relevant coding systems. Strong understanding of medical terminology and the healthcare reimbursement process. Familiarity with EMR systems and EHR systems is essential. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare professionals. Previous experience in a medical office or similar environment is preferred.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
