Classification:

This position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

Objective:

Under direct supervision of leadership, the Medical Assistant/Scribe will serve as direct support for the Dermatologist. The primary goal of the Medical Assistant/Scribe is to increase the efficiency and the productivity of the Dermatologist, allowing the Dermatologist to focus on the patient.

Qualifications:

Medical Assistant training from an accredited technical school or equivalent experience. Five years or more of experience as a medical assistant. Current Basic Life Support (BLS). Valid driver's license and auto insurance.

Job Duties:

Understand and follow complex technical instructions. Communicate effectively and assertively while demonstrating compassion and empathy for individual situations. Understand medical terminology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments. Complies with all state, federal, and organizational policies, and procedures. All clinical aspects of rooming a patient including assisting provider with procedures. Transcribe real time examinations into EMR. Communicate test results to patient via MyChart message, telephone call, or registered letter. Track, manage, and document results in Pathology book. Complete prior authorizations for non-biologic medications. Maintain supplies, material and equipment in patient rooms or pod. Travel to satellite clinics as assigned. Other job duties as assigned.

Education:

Minimum High School Diploma or GED, some college preferred 5 plus years of experience. Maintenance of current Basic Life Support (BLS).
