Duties



Greet patients and visitors warmly, creating a positive first impression and guiding them through check-in procedures. Collect accurate patient information, including demographics, insurance details, and medical history during intake processes. Schedule appointments efficiently using EHR systems, coordinating with multiple departments such as dermatology, emergency medicine, or inpatient units. Verify insurance coverage and process billing or co-payments accurately at the point of service. Assist clinical staff by recording vital signs, documenting patient complaints, and updating medical records with precise detail. Manage incoming calls promptly, directing inquiries to appropriate personnel or scheduling follow-ups as needed. Maintain organized records of patient visits, test results (including X-ray reports), and ICD coding for billing purposes. Support clinical teams by understanding basic physiology and anatomy to facilitate smooth patient flow and documentation. Ensure compliance with hospital protocols for patient care procedures such as medication administration or emergency response protocols like Basic Life Support (BLS). Handle administrative duties related to inpatient admissions or outpatient visits across various specialties including geriatrics, medical-surgical units, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or Level I/II trauma centers. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive patient information.

Qualifications



Proven experience working in a healthcare environment such as hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or emergency medicine settings. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and medication administration procedures. Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and hospital information. Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically across diverse populations including geriatrics and inpatient care settings. Ability to perform intake assessments, record vital signs accurately, and understand emergency protocols like Basic Life Support (BLS). Prior clinic experience preferred. Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail when managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments such as urgent care or hospital units.
