Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Workers' Compensation team in Oregon. This role supports injured workers by facilitating timely medical care, coordinating documentation, and ensuring compliance with Oregon Workers' Compensation Division (WCD) regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support:
- Assist providers with exams and procedures for injured workers.
- Take vital signs, prepare exam rooms, and manage medical supplies.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals within managed care organizations (MCOs).
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and billing codes.
- Ensure compliance with Oregon WCD guidelines for medical records and reporting.
Workers' Compensation Coordination:
- Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, employers, and insurance carriers.
- Assist with pre-authorization requests, billing, and fee schedule adherence.
- Support medically stationary and closing exams documentation.
Patient Advocacy:
- Educate patients on their rights and responsibilities under Oregon's workers' compensation system.
- Facilitate early return-to-work programs and follow-up care.
Requirements:
Certification: CMA or RMA preferred.
Experience: 1+ year in occupational health or workers' compensation setting required.
Strong understanding of Oregon workers' compensation regulations.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Proficiency in EMR systems and medical billing software.
