We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in patient care and medical support, particularly those experienced in hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or emergency medicine settings. The ideal candidate will be proficient in medical administrative tasks, patient service, and clinical procedures, contributing to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services across various specialties including dermatology, geriatrics, internal medicine, and trauma centers. This position is integral to ensuring smooth clinic operations and exceptional patient experiences.
Duties
Perform patient intake procedures, including recording medical histories and updating electronic health records (EHR systems)
Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration
Assist physicians with clinical tasks such as medication administration, specimen collection, and basic wound care
Prepare patients for examinations and procedures in outpatient and inpatient settings
Support physicians with diagnostic procedures including X-ray operations when applicable
Manage ICD coding for diagnoses and assist with documentation for billing purposes
Provide patient education on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care
Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to safety protocols
Support administrative functions such as scheduling appointments and managing patient flow in busy clinics or hospital units
Assist in emergency situations utilizing Basic Life Support (BLS) skills as needed
Skills
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
Experience working within hospital environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers, PICU, or Geriatrics units is highly desirable
Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and ICD coding processes
Ability to perform clinical procedures including medication administration, X-ray operation, and vital signs measurement accurately
Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations across outpatient and inpatient settings
Familiarity with hospital medicine protocols, urgent care procedures, and emergency medicine practices
Knowledge of medical-surgical care practices and experience supporting internal medicine clinics is preferred
Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Emergency Departments
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required or obtainable upon hire
