Job Summary


Darlington Fabrics is a wide warp knit textile manufacturer. Our customer markets include consumer apparel - intimate and swimwear, athletic apparel - both team and recreation, medical and military. Darlington Fabrics manufactures from raw material (yarn - polyester, nylon, spandex) to a finished fabric product. Our processes include warping raw material, producing greige fabric, quality processes and inspection, and dyeing and finishing the final product. Our production floor includes large warp knitters and heavy industrial dyeing and finishing machinery. The Mechanical/Industrial Engineer will provide technical expertise and support to our facilities and engineering department as well as troubleshoot operational challenges. In an everchanging industrial environment, this position will also research, recommend and support the installation of new equipment and innovation. Documentation for historical purposes and reference is critical to this role. Darlington Fabrics operates two manufacturing plants that are environmentally controlled and maintains an outstanding safety and compliance record. We are ISO9001:2015 and ISO:13485 registered and certified. The position combines hands on mechanical work and industrial compliance oversight.

Responsibilities



Participate in and support the research, design, and development of electromechanical/industrial systems, equipment and new automation. Perform activities in design, fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of new or existing machinery and/or systems. Follow through with test phases and troubleshoot/correct issues until operation is correct. Routinely work on the production floor to troubleshoot issues or repair machinery and systems Take part in mechanical engineering design projects, including product modifications and process improvements, and potential new machinery or equipment that may directly impact product quality Estimate project hours, project costs, product costs, and timeliness for projects. Develop part and assembly designs, drawings, and documentation of repairs and improvements for effective future troubleshooting Use AutoCAD to develop solid models and create assembly drawings Work daily with the Engineering Team to ensure that information is communicated accurately and effectively and timelines are being met. Provide technical expertise to two Maintenance Departments (two plants) as needed. Collaborate with the Engineering Team to develop practical solutions to technical and operational challenges. Develop project schedules, create technical reports/SOPs and general correspondence. Conduct Quality Assurance reviews of design and engineered machinery and systems Interface with local, state and federal government agencies as necessary Interpret blueprints, sketches and drawings Maintain and improve documentation including operating procedures, specifications and work instructions

Responsibilities Specific to our Industrial Environment:



Ensure safe and reliable performance for systems such as switch gear, climate control systems, and general building infrastructure. Service and repair textile manufacturing equipment to ensure continuous production Operate, maintain, and monitor boilers to ensure compliance with safety and efficiency standards Manage effluent treatment systems and ensure environmental compliance Oversee operation and maintenance of wells supporting plant utility Identify and implement energy-saving opportunities across plant systems Assist in preparing and managing utility budgets to control operating costs

Qualifications



Minimum Associate's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering required Minimum three years mechanical and industrial engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office applications, including Intermediate Excel required Excellent verbal and written skills required Effective training and presentation skills required Ability to support production and manufacturing processes required Advanced knowledge in electro-mechanical components and assemblies required Previous experience writing SOPs and creating "troubleshooting maps and documentation" required Knowledge of ISO Principles a plus LEAN/Six Sigma Certification a plus
