The primary purpose of the Mechanical/Plumbing Bureau is to perform on-site inspections of mechanical/plumbing installations in New Mexico. The Mechanical/Plumbing Bureau ensures that mechanical/plumbing installations in residential, commercial and public buildings conform to the current adopted mechanical/plumbing codes and standards and the provisions of the Construction Industries Licensing Act. Through enforcement, the Mechanical/Plumbing Bureau protects lives, health, safety, and properties of the citizens of New Mexico.

The primary purpose of the Mechanical/Plumbing Inspector is to perform on-site inspection of mechanical/plumbing installations in New Mexico. The Mechanical/Plumbing Inspector will ensure that mechanical/plumbing installation in residential, commercial and public buildings conform to the current adopted mechanical/plumbing codes and standards and the provisions of the Construction Industries Licensing Act. Through enforcement, the Mechanical/Plumbing Inspector will protect the life, health, safety, and property of the citizens of New Mexico.
This position is primarily to provide inspection services to Lea, Chavez, Roosevelt, and Eddy counties.
How does it get done?
Organization of daily schedules for maximum efficiency and minimum travel, researching and familiarization of current codes as they apply to conducting field inspections to protect life and property of New Mexico residents. Communicating daily with supervisor, contractors, homeowners, architects, and engineers as well as fellow inspectors from CID bureaus as necessary to ensure properly permitted, licensed and code compliant installations. Also, providing assistance in other inspection areas when determined necessary.

Minimum Qualification
If not already certified in a specialty as set out below, each Inspector must pass the examination of a national certifying organization recognized by the Construction Inspection Division within one (1) year of employment; and each Inspector must then remain certified by such certifying organization in at least one (1) of the following specialties:
