Job Description
GentleCare, a fully-funded startup that emerged from the MIT Robotics Lab, is at the forefront of building soft robots for elder care. We are seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on Mechanical Engineering Technician to join us in our mission.
What You'll Do
Fabricate, assemble, and prototype mechanical components using a variety of methods including sewing, 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining Work with soft materials such as fabrics, textiles, silicones, and flexible polymers Support the design and development of mechanical systems for robotic platforms Operate and maintain shop equipment and rapid prototyping tools Create and interpret CAD models and engineering drawings Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to bring designs from concept to physical prototype
What We're Looking For
Hands-on experience with fabrication, including working with fabrics and soft materials Proficiency with rapid prototyping methods (3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining) Familiarity with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship Experience with sewing, textile work, or soft goods manufacturing (bonus) Experience with pneumatics and air pressure-controlled systems (bonus)
