Job Description

Overview:
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research of submarine construction drawings using the Advanced Technical Information Support (ATIS) System.
  • Part of a team that develops submarine shipboard alterations.
  • Learn while working with an experienced engineering staff.
  • Conduct static analysis of mechanical structures.
  • Conduct hydrodynamic analyses under a variety of at-sea operational conditions.
  • Develop models to predict performance.
  • Assist the Design Team with material selection based on in-process stress calculations as well as commercial and/or military specifications.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of design and engineering products.
  • Interface with customers and government sponsors.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil or structural engineering.
  • Ability to maintain a DOD Secret Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
  • Physically capable to conduct ship checks on United States Nuclear Submarines:
  • Be comfortable in relatively confined spaces.
  • Capable of climbing vertical ladders (20' - 25') within the submarine.
  • At least two (2) years business experience in:
Working with AutoCAD and AutoDesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
Working with MATHCAD Engineering Mathematics Software (or similar software).
Working with Finite Element Analysis.
Working with Microsoft Office. Pay Transparency Statement: AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $77,600.00/Yr. - USD $129,600.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
