As an MDS Quality Assurance Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of patient care through meticulous assessment and documentation. You will leverage your expertise to ensure compliance with regulations while fostering a culture of excellence in clinical practices. Your contributions will directly impact patient outcomes and the overall efficiency of healthcare delivery.
What you'll do
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patient care plans to ensure compliance with Minimum Data Set (MDS) requirements.
Review medical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to regulatory standards, including ICD-10 and CPT coding.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement clinical documentation improvement strategies that enhance patient care quality.
Engage in utilization management processes to optimize resource allocation and improve patient outcomes.
Monitor and evaluate care delivery processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Provide training and support to nursing staff on best practices related to MDS documentation and quality assurance protocols.
Stay current with Medicare regulations, NCQA standards, and emerging trends in healthcare quality management.
Complete UDAs
Updating Care Plans
Monitor Quality of Charting/Documentation
Educating On Charting/Documentation as needed
On call rotation
Basic qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) license with a strong foundation in nursing principles.
Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices.
Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
Preferred qualifications
Prior experience in managed care, acute care settings, or nursing homes.
Familiarity with home care services, hospice care, or outpatient clinics.
Background in case management or health information management is a plus.
