SAVE Institute is a small tuition-free private school on a mission to SAVE Black Male Youth from cycles of poverty, crime, incarceration and lack of purpose through its four pillars that make up its acronym: Service, Agriculture, Vocational Training and Entrepreneurship.

We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Mathematics Teacher to inspire and educate black male students across various grade levels 6-12. In this role, you will deliver engaging lessons that foster a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, from basic computation to Algebra and Geometry. Your passion for teaching, combined with your expertise in curriculum development and classroom management, will help students unlock their full potential in mathematics. This position offers a dynamic environment where innovation in instructional design and the integration of learning technology are highly valued. Whether working in a private school setting or within an educational administration context, you will play a vital role in shaping students' academic journeys and cultivating their love for math.

Responsibilities



Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating innovative instructional strategies and learning technology tools. Teach a broad range of mathematical subjects including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, discrete math, differential equations, and molecular biology as applicable. Foster an engaging classroom environment that promotes active participation, critical thinking, and collaborative learning among students. Assess student progress through standardized testing, quizzes, projects, and formative assessments; provide timely feedback to support continuous improvement. Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning atmosphere conducive to academic success. Mentor and support students through tutoring sessions, academic advising, and personalized instruction tailored to diverse learning needs. Design and adapt instructional materials to meet the needs of students with special education requirements or those enrolled in Montessori or other specialized programs. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, research initiatives, and educational best practices to enhance teaching effectiveness. Utilize research laboratory experience and scientific research methods when applicable to science-related mathematics courses such as biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, organic chemistry, and dissection activities. Engage with library services for resource acquisition and stay current with advancements in educational research and teaching methodologies. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, lesson plans, and other administrative documentation required for education administration purposes.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred. Proven classroom experience teaching mathematics at various levels; prior experience working with students in private school settings is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of core mathematical disciplines including algebra, geometry, and business mathematics. Proficiency in instructional design and the integration of learning technology tools to enhance student engagement and understanding. Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex concepts to diverse learners. Experience with classroom management techniques that foster a respectful and productive learning environment. Ability to develop curriculum materials that meet educational standards while incorporating innovative approaches such as Montessori methods or special education strategies when needed. Strong organizational skills for lesson planning, proofreading educational materials, and managing administrative tasks efficiently. Demonstrated mentoring skills to support both student academic growth and professional collaboration among staff members.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
