Your Specific Responsibilities:

Evaluate project/process to determine current performance status. Make/recommend improvements to optimize delivery or improve results. Notify stakeholders of any changes to the project/process. Ensure project/process is consistent, predictable and repeatable.



Perform Independent Assurance evaluations in the field as described in Department procedures and/or the Federal Aid Policy Guide. Perform these evaluations in an objective and professional manner. Document and report findings.



Support consultant contracts in accordance with applicable rules, laws and procedures. Review the consultant work effort. Review and comment on invoices.


Perform field and/or laboratory testing in the field in accordance with the applicable Florida Sampling and Testing Methods (FSTM), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) or American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Report results precisely in the appropriate database. Keep all testing equipment calibrated and in good working order.


Analyze materials data for contract and procedural compliance. Take timely action to report any errors in the data.



Provide materials related technical support to customers as requested. Provide support in time to meet the customers' needs. Provide guidance and training to customers. Performs specialized operations and installations.

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

Knowledge of the concepts, terminology, principles and analytical techniques of geotechnical field exploration. Knowledge of engineering design, construction, production and/or operations.

Skills in:

Skilled in using engineering tools, equipment and/or instruments.

Ability to:

Ability to operate a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Ability to analyze and interpret engineering data. Ability to solve problems relating to engineering. Ability to perform technical engineering inspections. Ability to apply engineering quantitative techniques. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate engineering information effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to pick up to 50 pounds and move around uneven terrain without assistance.

Other Job-Related Requirements:

Possess a valid Class "B" CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with airbrakes is required at time of hire. Must pass or have passed Construction Math and Construction Plans Reading Self Study examinations. This position must respond before, during and after emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Prior experience operating a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet and/or database applications. Possess a valid Class "B" CDL(Commercial Driver's License) with air brakes is required at the time of hire.




This position requires a valid Class (B) driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following:



three (3) or more moving violations in the past three (3) years that accumulate three (3) or more points per violation;

any two (2) convictions of reckless driving in the past three (3) years;

a suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past three (3) years; and

a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction, in the past four (4) years.



Your driving record will be reviewed and the status of your driver license confirmed.
