We are seeking a

Materials Science Product Developer

to take a lead role in developing the next-generation material systems and products for our company. This pivotal role focuses on delivering sustainable, high-performance solutions within the flooring and building materials industry.

You will leverage your deep technical expertise to lead cross-functional initiatives, from initial concept through successful commercialization, shaping our future product portfolio and competitive advantage.

What You'll Be Doing

As a technical leader, you will manage the intersection of material innovation, performance, and global manufacturing:

Material Development & Technical Execution

Lead material-centric product development initiatives, working closely with global manufacturing partners and cross-functional teams (Design, R&D, TSQA, and Sourcing). Develop, evaluate, and scale new materials, surface technologies, and formulations aligned with strategic business and sustainability objectives. Translate complex product requirements into precise technical specifications, ensuring alignment with customer needs and regulatory standards (e.g., ASTM, EN). Lead technical deep dives with suppliers and factory partners, specifically in Asia and the U.S., focusing on process troubleshooting and material validation. Monitor emerging material technologies, performance trends, and competitive activity to inform the innovation pipeline.

Project Management & Documentation

Utilize project management tools (e.g., Monday.com, Microsoft Planner) to coordinate timelines, milestones, and stakeholder updates for multiple technical initiatives simultaneously. Drive tasks and projects to success while managing collaboration across multiple time zones. Create and maintain robust documentation of product development cycles, material test data, technical reports, and processes. Support intellectual property research, including patent landscape analysis and documentation.

Who We're Looking For

Experience & Knowledge

10+ years of hands-on, advanced experience in materials development, preferably in flooring, construction materials, or building products. Expert-level understanding of material performance standards, surface science, testing methodologies (including ASTM and EN), and product life cycle development. Demonstrated experience collaborating with overseas manufacturing partners, especially those based in Asia. Seasoned and experienced in managing cross-functional tasks across multiple time zones. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information across diverse internal and external teams. Proficient in using Project Management tools and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related technical field.



The salary range for this role is $120K to $140K a year and a yearly bonus potential. This range is applicable for jobs performed in the Eastern and Central Time Zones. An employee's pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, and business organizational needs.
