Description
:
The Center for Electromagnetics in the Leidos LInC group has an opening for a Senior Materials Research Physicist to work with our Tewksbury, MA and Albuquerque, NM location in support of scientific research activities associated with the Air Force Research Laboratory.
A critical tool in the development of High Power Electromagnetic (HPEM) materials technology is virtual design using numerical simulation. Particle-in-Cell codes treat physical processes occurring in high power tube environments by incorporating detailed physics models of complex processes, including physical properties associated with electron emission from surfaces. These physical phenomena become ever more important as we transition to high-power vacuum electronics applications, where quantum, electrostatic, electromagnetic, and thermal/mechanical physical processes that produce highly non-linear, multi-scale/physics can challenge HPEM design.
Primary Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities is the research and development of physics-based charged particle emission models to be incorporated into first-principles physics simulation and modeling tools.
Basic Qualifications
The ability to lead research, work with a team, and interact directly with the customer is important. A publication record in refereed journals in the field of study is important, as is attending conferences and presentation research publicly and to the customer. Experience with writing proposals for government programs is part of the roles of this offering.
Ph. D. (or M.S. and 10+ years) in an associated field.
