Job Summary:

Operates in the areas of Solid Waste Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Solid Waste Operator I:

Operates solid waste equipment such as, rear loader, front end loader, forklift, skid steer, and/or yard waste processing equipment such as yard waste turner and screening. Must perform duties to standard operations and safety defined by each appropriate equipment manufacturer and industry standards; reads and interprets appropriate instruction and/or construction plans. Performs basic maintenance and repair of equipment. Snow removal/sanding operations.

Solid Waste Operator II:

($54,156.19 - $64,934.61)


Operates roll off truck, garbage collections truck, motor grader, scraper, baler, semi-truck tractor and walking floor trailer, yard waste grinder, automated collection truck, and to include equipment in the Collections, MRF, Co-Compost Facility and Landfill. When working in operations requiring grading and excavation, shall be capable of constructing to final grade.

Qualifications:

Solid Waste Operator I:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one-year related experience and/or training. A combination of education and experience deemed appropriate to fulfill the role and responsibilities of this position will be considered. Must possess a valid Driver's License.

Solid Waste Operator II:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years related experience and/or training. A combination of education and experience deemed appropriate to fulfill the role and responsibilities of this position will be considered. Must possess a valid South Dakota Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
