Essential Functions: Manage supply chain, purchasing and inventory management for a custom cable manufacturing company
As a material Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the materials management team to ensure efficient production operations. You will be responsible for inventory control, production planning, warehouse management, supplier management, and logistics coordination. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing, inventory and team management, lean manufacturing principles
Partner and maintain relationships with reliable outside vendors and suppliers to manage purchase order based on demand
Plan and execute purchasing against MRP feeds and ensure flow of materials for ongoing production as well as for new products in development
Maintain computerized purchasing records and paper filing
Monitor progress against plan through regular reporting for on-time delivery, warehouse and assembly productivity, backlog, inventory accuracy, vendor performance
Plan, Monitor and report on inventory levels based on customer requirements and company target levels; ensures adequate planning and forecasting to maintain supply chain stability
Manage Long lead time & unique components
Effectively manages material costs
Excess and obsolete material management
Coordinates materials quotation activities to meet customer deadlines
Stay on top of project's material status: Manage material and delivery schedules to ensure materials will come on time and avoid line-down situations
Work with suppliers to resolve the material shortage
Negotiate quotations with vendors to obtain the best possible pricing with a reasonable lead time
Manage and assist buyers in regards to expediting materials, requesting samples, resolve and manage PO issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5-7 years of material experience or supplier management experience.
Proven experience in materials management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of inventory control principles and practices.
Experience with supplier management and contract negotiations.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Must have strong written comprehension and verbal communication skills
Proficient in computer literacy and Microsoft Office Suite Excel
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
