Expeditors coordinate the prompt movement of materials from suppliers through the various stages of the supply chain to the construction work sites. Setting and maintaining detailed schedules regarding material orders, production, logistics progress, delivery deadlines and receiving requirements. Ability to proactively identify and effectively manage issues and communicate quickly, directly and effectively with all key stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Tracks supplier delivery dates and professionally communicates to internal customers any shortage and generates backlog report to provide visibility of any potential interruption
Grow and strengthen professional relationships with various internal and external stakeholders
Performs material expediting, receipt verification, and storage preparation for urgent priority material requirements
Identifies opportunities and implements actions to continually reduce wasted time, money and resources from assigned tasks
Facilitates and leads finance and operations staff to resolve receiving and invoice discrepancies and collaborates with project management to prepare for project review meetings
Works with procurement professionals to locates critical or alternative items with suppliers and coordinate with operations supervisors to advance production time frames
Proactively follows-up on past due items and updates estimated delivery dates and prepares daily reports of material delays and backordered items
Work with suppliers to determine reasonable freight rates and to coordinate the timing and means of delivery
Ability to handle any related to vendor service, such as poor product quality or delivery delays
Liaising with vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods and seek out ways to save money on the procurement and delivery of materials
Performing clerical duties and maintaining accurate records and files of activities.
Qualifications:
Skills & Abilities:
Proven experience as construction expeditoror relevant material position requiring the understanding of the materials being procured, experience in a business or supply delivery setting
Experience in project management and ability to understand technical specifications of material and equipment used in the Transmission and Substation construction process
Excellent written and verbal communication skills communication and developed negotiation skills
Well-organized with focus on fine details in a multi-tasking environment, excellent problem-solving skills
Education and/ or Work Experience:
An associate's or bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, construction engineering, logistics or a related field
Accounting and budgeting experience, solid mathematical skills and basic computer skills
Minimum 5 years' experience in procurement, supply chain, planning, or material management position
Substation and Transmission line experience preferred
Able to effectively communicate commercial and logistical solutions and concepts to procurement personnel and non-procurement personnel
* Advanced Excel user and proficient in MS Office suite
