Job Description

The Marketing Specialist plays a vital role in raising awareness and promoting the mission of Family Promise of Yellowstone Valley. This position is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies that engage the community, support fundraising efforts, and highlight the successes of the families and programs served. The ideal candidate combines strong communication skills with creativity and a passion for storytelling to help build and maintain relationships with donors, volunteers, congregations, and partner organizations.

Working closely with leadership and program staff, the Marketing Specialist will manage social media platforms, create compelling content for newsletters and grant materials, and assist with event promotion and community outreach. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone enthusiastic about nonprofit marketing and committed to making a positive impact on families experiencing homelessness.

Communications and Content Creation:



Develop and manage content for social media channels, including regular posts that promote Family Promise's programs, events, and family success stories. Create marketing materials such as flyers, newsletters, grant documents, and presentations to support fundraising and outreach efforts. Photograph families, volunteers, and events for use in promotional materials and online platforms. Write and proofread newsletters, grant applications, and reports for clarity and impact.

Community and Congregation Engagement:



Collaborate with church partners and congregation coordinators to promote shelter schedules and volunteer opportunities. Support the coordination and communication with congregations to maintain positive relationships and smooth shelter operations. Assist in planning and promoting fundraising events and community awareness campaigns.

Program Support and Reporting:



Assist program staff by compiling monthly reports and success stories to share with the Board of Directors and donors. Track and analyze engagement metrics on social media and other communication channels to improve outreach effectiveness.

Administrative and General Support:



Maintain an organized calendar of marketing activities, deadlines, and events. Provide general administrative support related to marketing and communications projects as needed.
Collaborate with other staff and volunteers to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all platforms.

Required Skills and Abilities:



Experience or interest in marketing, communications, public relations, or related fields.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.

Proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) and basic graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Spark, or similar).

Ability to take high-quality photos and create engaging visual content.

Passion for working with vulnerable populations and a commitment to the mission of Family Promise.

Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.

Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.

Excellent interpersonal communications skills including working with children and families, and strong listening skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical skills.

Ability to work well under pressure with a high degree of attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize and organize heavy workload(s) and demonstrate effective time management skills.

Must have the ability to work in a professional manner and consistently demonstrate courtesy, customer service, and tact in a fast-paced/deadline-oriented environment.

Ability to work quickly and accurately; perform effectively under pressure; meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines and make decisions based on regulation(s), company policy(s), knowledge, and experience.

Memory and estimating are frequently used/required on the job.

Problem solving and exercising judgment are frequently used/required on the job.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
