Position Summary: Salary is Negotionable depending on experience

  • The Electrical Superintendent assists, organizes, and manages the primary duties of the Marine Electrician which include the installation, test, and repair or marine cables and equipment, installation and connection of lighting, electrical power, troubleshooting and repair of shipboard and facilities electrical systems. Must be able to read blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • The Electrical Superintendent reports to and receives direction from the Production Manager.   • \xe2\x80\xa2 Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintain current electrician\'s license or identification card to meet governmental regulations
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Direct or train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Perform business management duties, such as maintaining records or files, preparing reports, or ordering supplies or equipment
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Construct or fabricate parts, using hand tools, according to specifications
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit or moving or lifting heavy objects
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights or generators, placing flares, or driving needed vehicles
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide preliminary sketches or cost estimates for materials or services Education/Training: \xe2\x80\xa2 6 years or more in the Marine Electrical field \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience with US Navy Ship repair/NAVSEA regulation is required \xe2\x80\xa2 BS Electrical engineering degree \xe2\x80\xa2 Heavy Civil construction experience \xe2\x80\xa2 PLC and VFD experience A MUST \xe2\x80\xa2 Working knowledge of IT as it relates to electrical controls \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to multi-task, prioritize and handle deadlines \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems; \xe2\x80\xa2 Extensive knowledge of MS Office and AutoCAD \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to use Microsoft Product such as Word, excel, and adobe \xe2\x80\xa2 Excellent verbal and written communication skills Qualification/Requirement:
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 This position requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 All candidates must submit to and pass a post -offer drug screening and background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification
  • \xe2\x80\xa2 Valid State of Hawaii drivers\' license in good standing, class 3 or higher \xe2\x80\xa2 Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of shift
