Virginia Energy is seeking a Mapping Specialist for its Mined Land Repurposing Program (MLR) program. This role is responsible for ensuring mineral resource extraction is conducted in an environmentally sound manner and follows Virginia mineral extraction and reclamation regulations by evaluating permits, providing spatial database analysis, development, modification, maintenance, monitoring and/or integration, and developing special project designs for Abandoned Mine Land (AML), bond forfeiture, and watershed restoration projects if assigned.
This position plays a critical role in fulfilling those obligations by:
Conducting technical mapping review and approval of CSMO (Coal Surface Mining
Operation) permit applications
Maintaining and updating the Agency's GIS Database upon completion of mapping
reviews
Providing specialized technical assistance to agency personnel
Supporting special projects and responding to FOIA requests in a timely manner
This restricted position is contingent upon continued receipt of federal funds.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience in computer operations and ArcGIS Pro, geographic information systems
Experience in spatial database design and maintenance
Knowledge of mineral resource extraction practices
Considerable knowledge of engineering principles and practices, global positioning
systems, and computer aided design/drafting (AutoCAD)
Considerable knowledge and experience in mapping/GIS
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
