Job Description

American Robotics is seeking a Manufacturing Integration Technician to support the build, configuration, and validation of unmanned aircraft systems. This role focuses on hands-on integration of flight controllers, ESCs, motors, gimbals, radios, and onboard electronics during the manufacturing process.


The ideal candidate has practical experience with drone platforms and understands how software, firmware, and hardware come together to produce a functioning aircraft.

Responsibilities:

Support assembly, integration, and bring-up of drone systems during manufacturing. Configure and validate flight controllers using ArduPilot and or PX4. Configure ESCs using BLHeli and perform motor and propulsion checks. Integrate and test gimbals such as SimpleBCG and similar stabilized payload systems. Load firmware, parameters, and configurations onto flight and onboard systems. Perform system checks including sensor validation, motor direction, failsafes, and communications. Support calibration of IMUs, compasses, radios, and other avionics. Assist with troubleshooting hardware, firmware, and integration issues during production. Support test procedures including bench testing and pre-flight checks. Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and test teams to improve build processes. Document configurations, issues, and manufacturing procedures.
Support rework, upgrades, and system repairs as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Hands-on experience building, configuring, or maintaining drones or UAV systems. Working knowledge of ArduPilot and or PX4. Experience configuring ESCs using BLHeli. Familiarity with gimbal systems such as SimpleBCG or similar. Understanding of motors, ESCs, flight controllers, radios, and sensors. Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams, system diagrams, and build instructions. Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware and software boundaries. Comfortable working onsite in a manufacturing environment.
Must be a US citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with UAV manufacturing or integration. Familiarity with MAVLink-based systems and ground control software. Experience with payload integration including cameras and sensors. Experience with Linux-based onboard computers. Experience supporting flight testing or operational deployments. Familiarity with ESD practices and electronics handling.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work on the shop floor and at benches for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
