The Opportunity:
We're hiring a
Manufacturing Engineering Intern -
Machining
to join our operations team. This role is a key contributor to supporting machining operations and enhancing production efficiency and process quality. You'll work closely with the Machining team, Senior Engineers, and cross-functional product teams, and be part of a team that values problem-solving, accountability, and ongoing growth.
What You'll Do:
Analyze and optimize people, materials, and machines for efficiency
Design workstation layouts and tooling to improve workflow (6S/Visual Management)
Develop and test CNC programs for quality and efficiency
Assist with CNC setup: write instructions, verify tool offsets, and validate first-piece quality
Maintain CNC documentation: set-up sheets, tool lists, and fixture instructions
Work with vendors to test and implement tooling and equipment upgrades
Set standards for process data and work measurements
Troubleshoot, maintain, and improve machining processes
Document processes and control plans
Provide on-floor support to manufacturing teams as needed
Train new operators on equipment and processes
Follow ISO and quality standards and participate in continuous improvement
Complete additional tasks as assigned
What You Bring:
Enrolled in an accredited college/university (preferably junior standing) pursuing a bachelor's in engineering
Availability 10-20 hours/week during the school year; full-time in summer
Local housing and transportation in Mequon, WI
Knowledge of CNC machining processes, tools, and fixturing
Familiarity with quality control and inspection
CAD experience; CAM software a plus
Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate and train others effectively
