The Manufacturing Associate is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of automated steel fabrication equipment, including automated saw lines, automated drilling machines, press brakes, and punching machines. This role ensures parts are produced accurately and efficiently according to engineering drawings and production schedules.
Summary of tasks and responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and monitor automated saw lines, drilling machines, press brakes, and punching machines.
- Load raw materials and unload finished components using material-handling equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work instructions.
- Verify machine settings, tooling, and programs before production runs.
- Perform in-process inspections to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Adjust machine parameters to maintain tolerances and productivity.
- Meet production targets while minimizing scrap and downtime.
- Enforce OSHA/MIOSHA standards and company safety policies at all times.
- Ensure all team members use proper PPE and follow safe work practices.
- Conduct daily safety checks and participate in incident investigations when needed.
- Perform routine machine checks and basic preventive maintenance
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine issues to minimize production interruptions.
- Document production data, downtime, and quality checks in company systems.
- Collaborate with maintenance technicians on repairs and system upgrades.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience operating automated or CNC fabrication equipment preferred.
- Experience with saw lines, drilling machines, press brakes, and punching machines strongly preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions
- 1st Shift position, Monday-Friday with occasional overtime as required.
- Requires standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
- Work environment includes exposure to welding fumes, sparks, noise, and moving equipment (PPE provided and required).
