Manufacturing Accountant

Job Summary

Ultra-Mek, Inc., a Denton, NC-based motion furniture hardware manufacturer is seeking a Manufacturing Accountant. The ideal candidate will manage and perform financial and cost functions including monthly financials, g/l account reconciliations, job costing, customer quotes, inventory valuation, and reporting. A BS in Accounting is required along with 3 or more years in manufacturing accounting. At least 2 years experience in cost accounting is preferred. This is a direct hire position.

Responsibilities:

Create monthly financial reports by analyzing g/l account transactions, creating necessary journal entries and reconciling financial accounts. Oversee current standard cost data within the inventory management system; perform standard costs analyses and periodic standard cost roll-ups. Audit and analyze bills of materials for cost accuracies. Support annual audit activities Analyze data in the financial ledgers related to labor and material costs. Investigate and determine the causes of cost variations. Ensure the accuracy of all manufacturing costs. This includes raw materials, labor and surcharges Perform financial costing and pricing of raw material, time studies and finished goods inventories. This includes determining when and what item groups are to be counted on a periodic basis as well as ensuring the items are appropriately costed. Reconcile physical inventories to the ERP system on a monthly basis. Prepare and analyze numerous cost and financial reports related to sales, gross margin, inventory, and manufacturing variances. Provides cost data and gross margin % for inclusion in quotes to customers. Create customer quotes. Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions. Performs other duties and special projects as may be assigned.

Requirements:

Proven work experience as a Manufacturing Accountant, Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, Accountant or similar role Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures. In-depth understanding of GAAP Strong time management skills Four-year accounting degree from an accredited college or university. Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles required - CMA certification considered a plus. Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information. Additionally, broad knowledge of ERP operating systems is required. Experience with Epicor/Kinetic a plus. Attention to detail and accuracy Ability to effectively prioritize work Ability to effectively multitask Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products is required. Products include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Excel knowledge should be extensive. Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning) Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as internal and external clients Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment. Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting

Education and work experience

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related degree 3 or more years in manufacturing accounting or related field, including at least 2 years in cost accounting
