The Value Stream Manager will deliver manufacturing targets through the effective management, development and coaching of a multifunctional team. Located at our Frederick, MD location, Monday-Friday working varied hours with both 1st and 2nd shift employees. The position requires the successful candidate to continuously improve manufacturing processes, team engagement and staff involvement. The successful candidate should strive to be viewed as a role model in terms of their behaviors and interactions not only within their team but across the whole operation. A strong customer focus is essential, and a key objective of this role will be to enhance service levels and overall customer experience while maintaining an efficient and safe manufacturing environment. What will you do?

  • Lead a work stream within the manufacturing team of approximately 20 employees ensuring both individual and team\xe2\x80\x99s annual goals are delivered.
  • Deputize for senior manufacturing manager and be an SME for the work stream handling customer audits/ visits etc. when required.
  • Support other work streams within manufacturing where required and help to develop the optimum solution that is best for manufacturing overall.
  • Effectively develop team members using situational leadership and performance management tools to ensure employees\xe2\x80\x99 potential is achieved.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities across the stream delivering productivity in a safe and effective manner while maintaining product quality.
  • Improve overall customer experience through improved service levels, effective 5S execution and adherence to the ISO13485:2016 standard.

  • Embraces the sites continuous improvement tools to improve processes and solve problems. The manufacturing manager should be able to understand and communicate the impact of this continuous improvement on customer satisfaction and business growth.
  • Shows passion, commitment, has strong results focus and an understanding of Thermo Fishers strategy and how this cascades through to the shop floor.
  • Must be able to consider multiple options when making decisions and incorporates contingency planning and data analysis to the decision-making process.
  • The successful candidate will be supporting a 3-shift operation and will need to be able to flex start/end times to interact with their team.
  • Drives and implements opportunities for continuous improvement, using Lean and Six Sigma principles.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a science or engineering discipline with documented experience in successfully leading a medium sized team OR 5+ years of MFG/leadership experience.
  • Experience working within a medical device manufacturing environment or cGMP. Manufacturing environment would be desirable but not essential.
  • Scientific background required
  • Previous experience of leading and delivering projects is essential
  • Previous experience of leading a team effectively through significant change is essential
