The Manager, Electrical Engineering for Direct Expansion PL within the Thermal BU provides electrical design leadership for New Product Development (NPD) for the Direct Expansion Product Line and as well as Sustaining leadership for all existing (production) within the Thermal Business Unit.
This position will be based on onsite at Vertiv's Westerville, OH - 460 Polaris Pkwy location.
Responsibilities:
Apply engineering skills and experience for all phases of product development.
Participates and/or leads efforts to create specifications and develop designs to meet those specifications to cost and schedule.
Participates in fabrication and development of prototypes.
Effectively interfaces and manages suppliers for timely procurement of parts.
Generates complete 3D assemblies of design and full documentation for EP's, wiring harnesses, Schematics, sensors and interfaces to PCB's.
Provides leadership and technical direction to the electrical engineering organization.
Establish work group goals within framework of section technical and financial objectives.
Maintain broad awareness of efforts within groups to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs.
Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organizations and within work groups.
Communicate with management on technical, organizational, resource and personnel issues.
Define roles and responsibilities for assigned personnel.
Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counseling.
Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within work group.
Provide sustaining leadership for electrical engineering items to manufacturing. procurement and customer service.
Drive the development and application of consistent design practices, standards and software tools.
Release documentation and bills of material into PLM and ERP systems. Experience using Oracle PD Cloud and Oracle EBS and Agile EC (CAD Vault) would be beneficial.
Lead the electrical efforts for product compliance as it goes through CSA approval. Ensure units will meet NEC Building Codes. Knowledge of CE requirements for EMEA units beneficial.
Ability to work with Global engineering groups, namely with EMEA, Nove Mesto and India DX design teams.
Supports other NPD mechanical groups with setting up tests.
Supports manufacturing in DFM improvements.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
At least 10 years of related job experience.
Proficient or a deep working knowledge in 3D modeling using Creo and Solid Edge.
Must be able to generate support documentation such as mechanical drawings, BOM's, assembly drawing, etc..
Extensive experience in Electric Panel and Wire Harness design.
Thermal design experience in HVAC Data Center applications is beneficial.
Proven ability in the design, prototyping of various tooling, jigs & fixtures, electro-mechanical parts and assemblies.
Experience in creating product specifications, test protocols, manufacturing procedures.
Demonstrated ability/hands-on experience in prototyping and mechanical fabrication. thorough knowledge of relative costs/merits of various assembly techniques.
Strong interpersonal skills, team orientation, consistent work habits, and a can-do attitude. Must be able to work as member of cross-functional engineering team.
Strong oral and written communication skills required.
