As a Manager of Data Engineering, you will be responsible for leading a team of data engineers to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and data storage solutions on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. You will be expected to have a deep understanding of big data technologies like Azure Databricks and Apache Spark. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the quality and consistency of data is maintained at all times. You will also be responsible for integrating end-to-end data pipelines to take data from source systems to target data repositories.

In addition to the above, you will also be responsible for working with users to develop information marts. Information marts are subsets of a data warehouse that are focused on a particular line of business, department, or subject area. They make specific data available to a defined group of users, which allows those users to quickly access critical insights without wasting time searching through an entire data warehouse. As a Manager of Data Engineering with international employees, you will be expected to have experience working with diverse teams and managing projects across different time zones. You will be responsible for ensuring that your team is aligned with the company\xe2\x80\x99s goals and objectives and that they are meeting their targets. You will also be responsible for ensuring that your team is following best practices and adhering to industry standards.

Essential Functions:

  • This position reports to the SVP Business Processes and has 14 direct reports.
  • Up to 10% travel (domestic and international) that includes overnight stays.
  • Leading a team of data engineers and guiding them with the best data strategies in line with data needs.
  • Identifying, designing, and implementing process improvements that include building/re-engineering data models, data architectures, pipelines, and data applications.
  • Staying on top of emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and supervising the data engineers who work for them.
  • Ensuring that the team is aligned with the company\xe2\x80\x99s goals and objectives and that they are meeting their targets.
  • Ensuring that the team is following best practices and adhering to industry standards.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
  • Preferred bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with 6+ years in computer science, information technology, or related field or associate degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Data engineering certifications like Databricks Data Engineer or similar.
  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience in managing, designing, and maintaining large-scale data solutions.
  • Strong project management skills and team management experience with managerial abilities to handle a team of data enthusiasts.
  • Technical capacity to partner with tech leads and be comfortable diving into the fray to help drive resolution of incidents or technical disagreements.
  • Experience working with diverse teams and managing projects across different time zones.
  • Good understanding of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s goals and objectives.
  • Involvement in inter-departmental projects and experience communicating with various stakeholders.
  • Ability and desire to learn the manufacturing and business process supported by IT.
  • Customer service mindset, and problem-solving skillset.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and training skillsets.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in computer science or MIS.
  • Experience with Cloud Database Services: Snowflake, Microsoft Azure Databricks, SAP Hana Cloud.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience working with Data Warehouse automation tools such as Azure Data Pipelines.
  • Strong history of delivering value added solutions to business users.
Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Some travel (up to 10%) both domestic and international with overnight stays. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
