We are seeking a hands-on and experienced Manager of Corporate Accounting to join the team at Rivian Volkswagen Group Technologies. This role is crucial for the accurate and timely management and execution of key financial processes, particularly the monthly close and accruals, within our fast-paced environment. In addition, this role will be a key in our organizational transition, developing and implementing new accounting processes and serving as a key finance resource for our SAP ERP implementation. You will be responsible for owning core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP & IFRS reporting standards, and directly coordinating operational activities with our shared services group.

This role reports to the Sr. Lead, Corporate Accounting. Located in our Palo Alto, California office, this position offers a standard hybrid schedule with the expectation of being in the office three days a week. Responsibilities:

  • Responsible over the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring deadlines are met and financial data is accurate and complete.
  • Prepare and execute complex journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, with a focus on the critical accrual processes and ensuring proper cutoff.
  • Manage the daily workflow and operational relationship for our Shared Service Center in Serbia, providing daily guidance, reviewing workpapers, and ensuring adherence to our closing calendar.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Accounting team to operationalize technical guidance, ensuring accurate execution within the close process for complex areas like intercompany transactions, allocations, and ownership reporting.
  • Participate in the coordination and preparation of deliverables for internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate submission to auditors and management.
  • Actively participate in the testing and documentation of system implementations and process optimization efforts to ensure scalability.
  • Analyze existing accounting processes and workflows and identify opportunities for streamlining and improved accuracy, presenting recommendations to management.
  • Involvement in the SAP implementation, including requirements gathering, configuration, master data validation, and end-to-end testing of accounting modules.
  • Migrating accounting activities from the parent company and establishing new standalone procedures and processes.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience, ideally including public accounting or high-growth industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or significantly contributing to the monthly financial close cycle.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or similar fields.
  • Familiarity with SAP or other similar ERP tools and related applications (Blackline, Concur).
  • Proven experience in mature/public company reporting and supporting SOX compliance controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on complex, cross-functional projects in a global corporate environment and experience working with outsourced or shared service teams is a strong plus.
  • Continual improvement mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Pay Disclosure:
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Palo Alto, California Based Applicants: $149,700 - $187,100 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
