Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives:

The primary function of the Manager, Capital Business Office is to manage the Capital Process for Abbott Nutrition (AN) and has visibility at some of the highest levels in the organization. The services include development of the annual capital plan, managing the reviews and approvals of all Requests for Capital Expenditures (RCEs), working with Functional Leaders to prioritize initiatives and elevate for decision making appropriately, publishing of Monthly/Quarterly Dashboard reports and engaging corporate partners to understand expectations and set targets etc. The primary goal is to ensure that all functional groups that need access to capital have the support necessary to properly prioritize their needs, understand the steps needed to advance through the escalation process including authorize as well as appropriate tracking once approved.

This position will also have responsibility to manage Global Engineering\'s Resource Planning and Management system, PlanView, which will be the tool use to provide dynamic data and metrics in regards to resource loading and planning considering active and upcoming needs.

This position is a working Manager role which will require a balance between working directly on elements that get high level visibility as well as delegating responsibilities. This position will also work collaboratively with AN Finance, PMO leadership, Engineering Leadership, Manufacturing Leadership as well as multiple Abbott Nutrition Functional Leads. This role engages all functional groups of AN across every continent and time zone, requiring flexibility in work hours, strategies as well as cultural sensitivities.

Major Responsibilities:

Capital Planning

  • Provides governance and guidance to the overall Abbott Nutrition Capital Process.
  • Manages the develop and communication of all Capital related executive level documents (Requests for Capital Expenditures, Supporting summary documents, Capital Dashboards, Scope Changes, Supplemental Requests etc.
  • Tracking and trending of capital related metrics
  • Lead Capital Plan development for future capital years and collaborate with all applicable cross functional groups to deliver overall AN Capital Plan Proposal.
  • Participation in Monthly Project Review Board meetings
  • Manage the Capital Reserve process for AN
Metrics and Benchmarking
  • Create Best in Class Capital and Project metrics across the AN network that drives visibility and measurable improvements
  • Collaboration with Corporate and other Divisional resources to apply key learnings in other areas
  • Benchmarking of industry best practices and performance metrics
Resource Planning
  • Provides Resource Planning support to the technical groups via PlanView and associated metrics and visualization.
  • Continued development and advancement of PlanView as well as the data included to make short and long term projections on resource needs based on location, skill set and project portfolio
Technical Competence
  • A strong understanding of technical concepts will be very beneficial in this role as the majority of the projects being supported through this team are in support of AN\xe2\x80\x99s manufacturing network.
Organizational Interface
  • The role must have demonstrated executive level communications, both verbal and written. Must be able to take very technical topics and create descriptions that are easily understood.
  • The position needs to demonstrate high levels of flexibility to meet the changing needs of the business across the globe as well as command over the current state of capital
Accountability/Scope/Budget:

The Manager of Capital Business office is responsible for the preparation of the departmental budget and meeting budget targets on a monthly basis. This position is responsible for establishing metrics, KPIs and benchmarks that AN will measure its capital performance against.

Qualifications

Education:

A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree is required, with a preference for a technical focus. A minimum of 10 years of progressively increasing responsibility.

Minimum Experience / Training Required:
  • Looking for a combination of strong team leadership, organizational efficiencies and executive level communications.
  • Exposure to Strategic Planning (regardless of field) with demonstrated experience in prioritization techniques will be crucial.
  • 2+ years of experience in direct supervision.
  • Capital Project Management Experience
  • Strong Organizational and Communication skills - Highly proficient in both verbal and written communication. Should be capable of communicating to upper levels of management on both issues that affect our operations (both positive and negative), and on opportunities to improve our processes. Conveys information effectively through formal and informal documents.
  • Excellent teamwork and ability to function across multiple areas of the business
The base pay for this position is $102,700.00 \xe2\x80\x93 $205,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
