General Description


The purpose of this position is to cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts of $5,000 and above. This individual will manage a portfolio of 100 major donor prospects - including alumni, parents, friends and other stakeholders- throughout the donor engagement cycle. This individual will work independently and collaboratively to advance strategic fundraising goals that support institutional priorities, including scholarships, academic programs, and capital projects.


Essential Job Duties


Manage and grow a portfolio of 100 major gift prospects capable of giving $5,000.

Develop individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies based on donor interests and institutional priorities.

Conduct a minimum of 15 in-person visits per month with donors and prospects.

Prepare written proposals, briefings, gift agreements, and stewardship materials.

Build meaningful relationships through consistent, high-touch engagement.

Collaborate with advancement staff to ensure timely and personalized stewardship.

Monitor donor gift agreements to ensure proper execution and fulfillment.

Partner with campus leadership, deans, faculty, and alumni relations to align donor interests with strategic initiatives.

Document all donor activity using CRM software (e.g., Raiser's Edge).

Maintain up-to-date strategy statements and contact reports.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


Knowledge of Raiser's Edge or other fund-raising software program; Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.); Knowledge of Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media outlets; Ability to work independently and creatively; Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; Excellent service skills; Ability to travel as needed.

The educational requirement for this position is: Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred

This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience, preferably with a stewardship or donor engagement program. Experience fundraising in higher education preferred.
