Job Description

The Maintenance Assistance will work with the Maintenance Director in ensuring building, equipment, and grounds meet quality standards that provide optimal safety, service, and cleanliness to participants, visitors, and staff.

As Transportation Driver, provides door-to-door transportation service for participants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES Of MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT



Maintains consistent, accurate logs of safety equipment including fire alarms, fire extinguishers, and emergency response system. Checks equipment according to company policies and procedures to ensure all are in safe working order. Monitors electrical systems, mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing systems, sprinkler systems, smoke alarms, and emergency lights to ensure safe working order. Repairs/replaces or requests contractor as needed. Monitors temperatures of hot water and refrigerators to ensure safety for all. Touches up paint (interior & exterior) as needed. Maintains an inventory of maintenance supplies. Places orders as needed. Monitors and repairs floors, walls, fences as needed. Inspects facility on a regular basis to ensure safety and cleanliness. Completes work orders in a timely manner. Maintains grounds that reflect an open, welcoming impression to individuals passing by and entering the building. Maintains a safe environment for staff, participants and visitors including, but not limited to snow removal. Maintains confidentiality of participants personal information in and out of the community and protects and supports participants rights. Maintains a professional appearance by wearing clean, pressed clothing and a demeanor that encourages a positive nurturing environment for the residents, families, vendors, and guests. Restocks toiletry supplies in restrooms as needed. Empties all trash cans at end of day and throughout day as needed. Maintains a positive customer service environment and practices honesty and integrity in all aspects of performance. Performs all other duties as assigned or required.

Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job:

As needed, responsible for ensuring contractors and subcontractors are performing work in accordance with contracts.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities



Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory systems for safety and facilities management or willingness to learn. Ability to make or learn how to do minor and major repairs, paint, and perform landscaping tasks. Ability to take direct orders from Maintenance Director and fulfill assigned tasks independently. Interpersonal skills to communicate with residents and staff. Must show compassion and genuinely care for the elderly & disabled. Must be able to effectively communicate with vendors, contractors, and emergency personnel. Knowledge of use of hand tools, tractors, lawn equipment, carpet cleaners, and other housekeeping and maintenance equipment. Must maintain a current driver's license.

TRANSPORTATION DRIVER ESSENTIAL DUTIES



Safely transport individuals living with dementia, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and other needs to and from their places of residence and Elderhaus Assist clients to and from their front door as needed; assist with loading and unloading passengers; assist clients to and from the parking lot and inside the Elderhaus facility; keep vehicle in line of sight at all times when participants are on board Complete paperwork for mileage; sign clients in and out; ensure and document vehicle safety Follow all Elderhaus employee policies and procedures Report any incidents and complete incident report if required (verify with management)

Education/Experience:



High school diploma or equivalent required.

Previous experience in building maintenance is preferred.

Valid driver's license (does NOT require CDL) Pass background check Ability to physically assist clients as needed, Job Fitness Testing required Reliable and safe

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

Moderate physical activity is required by handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently. Must be able to bend, stoop, and manage bulky objects. This position requires working and driving in inclement weather, being on call 24 hours a day, and responding to emergencies in a timely manner.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
