The Maintenance Worker position holds primary responsibility for landscaping and upkeep of Town facilities and assisting members of the Public Works staff with maintenance of the Town's water and wastewater infrastructure and streets. The Maintenance Worker also facilitates cemetery services such as grave openings and closings.
The Maintenance Worker should be able to safely and accurately operate landscaping equipment, mowers, heavy equipment, and vehicles and should also be proficient in the safe and effective use of a variety of hand tools. Day-to-day activities include checking water and wastewater systems for normal operation and conducting repairs, landscaping services, cemetery services such as grave openings/closings, addressing work orders, and maintaining equipment and vehicles.
Responsibilities
Safely and accurately operate mowers, tractors, weed eaters, chainsaws, blowers, edgers, and related landscaping and mowing equipment. Performs work in the general cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of Town facilities including cleaning grounds, edging, planting, weeding, trimming, raking, and related work.* Assist with water and wastewater system and roadway maintenance and repairs. Safely and accurately operate and use hand tools, heavy equipment such as backhoes, vehicles, and other construction equipment. Installs, disinfects, and cleans lines, repairs leaks, tests and repairs meters and taps. Performs street related maintenance and repair work including finishing concrete, setting forms, lying asphalt, assisting operators, removing debris from catch basins, and directing traffic.* Performs work in constructing, painting, repairing, or other duties associated with building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, and concrete finishing.* Maintains tools, equipment, and vehicles including routine maintenance and minor repairs.* Completes service orders and requests. Completes and performs any other related duties as required or assigned.* Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC units, and building infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
Supervise or assist with facilities maintenance projects, including coordinating with contractors or other team members as needed.
Maintain safety standards by following protocols during all maintenance activities and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to internal requests for repairs or assistance within the facility.
Requirements
Valid Driver License
Proven experience in facilities maintenance or related fields s.
Electrical experience including troubleshooting circuits and using tools like ohmmeters.
Ability to perform painting and basic carpentry work as needed.
Excellent communication skills in English for clear documentation and teamwork coordination.
Knowledge of safety standards related to facilities maintenance including OSHA regulations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 - 50 per week
