Overview

Motel Maintenance Technician



The Motel Maintenance Technician keeps the property humming smoothly, tending to the building's essential systems and guaranteeing that guests enjoy a safe, comfortable stay. The role is hands-on, problem-solving, and often the quiet hero behind a peaceful night's sleep.

Key Responsibilities

General Repairs

Perform routine repairs in guest rooms and common areas: plumbing fixes, electrical troubleshooting, appliance swaps, carpentry touch-ups, and minor HVAC work. Diagnose issues quickly and complete repairs efficiently to minimize room downtime.
Preventive Maintenance

Conduct regular inspections of rooms, equipment, and building systems. Maintain logs of completed tasks, scheduled maintenance, and parts used. Identify wear-and-tear before it grows teeth.
Safety & Compliance

Ensure the property meets safety and fire-code requirements. Test emergency systems such as smoke alarms, exit lighting, and sprinkler heads. Follow OSHA and hotel brand standards.
Grounds & Exterior Care

Maintain parking areas, landscaping, walkways, signage, and lighting. Seasonal tasks such as snow removal or storm clean-up.
Guest & Staff Support

Respond promptly and courteously to maintenance requests. Work with front desk staff and housekeeping to coordinate room status.
Inventory & Vendor Management

Track tools, supplies, and replacement parts. Assist with overseeing contractors for specialized work.
Qualifications

Experience in general maintenance, building repair, or related trades. Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and handle physical tasks. Strong troubleshooting instincts and a calm temperament. Availability for on-call or weekend shifts as needed.
Preferred Skills

HVAC or electrical certification. Experience in hospitality or property management settings. Bilingual communication abilities.
Work Environment

You'll move through guest rooms, back-of-house spaces, rooftops, laundry rooms, and sometimes the belly of the building where the boilers whisper. It's a mix of independence, teamwork, and unexpected puzzles.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
