Description
Under general supervision, the position maintains and cleans City buildings and facilities. Employees in this classification perform manual labor work. Performs related work as directed.
Examples of Duties
Drives/operates facilities maintenance equipment such as dump trucks, back-hoes, mowers, and related equipment.
Operates power mowers, edgers, clippers, hedgers, and other equipment used in landscaping.
Collects, rakes, and loads grass and brush; mows lawns and cleans grounds; plants, waters and assists in the care of shrubs, flowers and grass.
Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
Maintains traffic control around maintenance or construction areas.
Repairs sidewalks and other City facilities.
Applies fertilizers, insecticides, and other chemicals to outdoor areas.
Sweeps/vacuums/mops/waxes floors of offices, bathrooms, common areas, and other areas of public buildings and facilities.
Removes trash/garbage from all areas of public buildings and facilities.
Cleans and sanitizes surfaces, offices, food preparation areas, eating areas, and other areas of public buildings and facilities.
Monitors condition of building and functioning of equipment; reports any need for maintenance or repairs.
Maintains supplies necessary for cleaning or stocking of restrooms or offices.
Participates in special projects as assigned.
Completes reports such as daily activities reports, vehicle logs, and others as required by
department.
Assists with ordering supplies, tools, and other materials as needed.
Performs other functions such as raising/lowering flags, setting alarm systems, securing buildings at close of day, and running errands.
Makes minor repairs of fixtures and facilities; assists with moving furniture or fixtures as requested.
Interacts with public, providing information and services
Actively employs safety processes and procedures while performing job functions.

Minimum Training and Experience
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by at least six (6) months previous experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Special Requirements (must obtain within one (1) year of hire from date of hire)
Florida CDL Class B
Basic Tree Pruning Certification
Basic Maintenance of Traffic must be obtained within a year.

Marginal Functions
While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members.
Assembles fixtures/furniture; performs minor maintenance on equipment.
Assists with inventories.
Performs related duties as directed.
