Yummy Acai - Maintenance Technician (Industrial / Manufacturing) Elizabeth, NJ 1st Shift - 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Full-Time - Food Manufacturing Environment About the Role: Yummy Acai is seeking a knowledgeable and hands-on Maintenance Technician to support our Acai production plant. This role is essential to ensuring equipment reliability, safe operations, and continuous improvement across our facility. Our facility uses a variety of food-processing equipment including industrial mixers, pouch fillers, cooling systems, and blending machinery. Experience with these systems is a strong plus. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience in industrial maintenance, and familiarity with food processing equipment. Knowledge of HVAC and electrical troubleshooting is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities: Equipment & Facility Maintenance
Inspect, test, clean, and monitor machinery and production equipment.
Diagnose equipment malfunctions, perform troubleshooting, and complete timely repairs.
Disassemble and reassemble equipment, replacing defective or worn parts.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks on production lines, utilities, and facility systems.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and downtime.
Technical & Safety Support
Work alongside the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor and cross-functional teams (Operations, Sanitation, QA).
Address equipment, safety, or facility issues promptly to support a safe, compliant production environment.
Assist with continuous improvement projects related to equipment upgrades, efficiency, and reliability.
Follow all GMP, food safety, and sanitation requirements when working in production areas.
Compliance & Documentation:
Understand and follow maintenance SOPs and safety procedures.
Support audit readiness by keeping maintenance logs and equipment documentation up to date.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience maintaining industrial food-processing mixers, ribbon blenders, paddle mixers, or other blending systems (strong plus).
Ability to troubleshoot and repair mixing motors, gearboxes, shafts, seals, pumps, and blending components.
High School Diploma; trade school or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, HVAC, or Mechanical Systems preferred.
3+ years experience as a Maintenance Mechanic/Technician in a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing preferred).
Strong mechanical aptitude; able to use hand and power tools, welding equipment, and basic machine shop tools.
Ability to mentor or train entry-level technicians.
Knowledge of state and local safety requirements related to refrigeration systems.
Ability to interpret:
Electrical schematics
Motor control diagrams
PLC ladder logic (basic understanding acceptable)
Pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams
Experience with:
Basic electrical troubleshooting
Plumbing repairs
Welding / fabrication
Refrigeration or HVAC systems (highly preferred)
Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
Work Schedule & Requirements:
1st shift (7:00am-3:30pm), with ability to work occasional overtime, weekends, or emergency call-ins.
Ability to work in cold environments (production and freezer areas).
Must follow GMP, food safety, and sanitation requirements.
