Job Description

I. POSITION DESCRIPTION

Performs necessary skilled work in one or more areas to include but not limited to: plumbing, H.V.A.C., carpentry, electrical, mechanical, fire, safety and sanitation, and other related skills.

II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Maintains knowledge of, comply with, and enforce all institutional policies, rules, procedures, and regulations.

B. Maintains order, discipline, and security in accordance to rules, regulations, policies, and laws.

C. Reads and interprets blueprints and schematics (in respective field of expertise).

D. Inspects and may perform carpentry work in repairing or replacing doors, windows, walls, flooring, roofing and any other work pertaining to wood structures.

E. Inspects and may perform plumbing, heating, and air conditioning work in repairing furnaces, duct work, air conditioners, piping, instrument controls, wash basins, toilet facilities, or any other work pertaining to heating; air conditioning, and plumbing facilities.

F. Inspects and may perform electrical work in repairing and replacing fluorescent fixtures, control switches, disconnecting wiring and any other work pertaining to electrical facilities.

G. Inspects and may perform minor construction such as building storage bins, stockroom shelves, counters, work benches, etc., using precision hand tools and power tools.

H. Inspects and may perform mechanical work involving repair and maintenance of facility machinery, motors, and vehicles.

I. Keeps records as required.

J. Conducts quarterly fire drills for each shift.

K. Attends monthly supervisor meetings and warden calls.

L. Inspects and maintains sprinkler riser systems and fire extinguishers.

M. Conducts sanitation reports twice weekly.

N. Completes administrative paperwork and the preparation or maintenance of records, forms, or reports.

O. Reviews all booked and released inmates from previous shift to verify any deficiencies. Documents deficiencies and reports to a superior.

P. Conduct head counts to ensure that each prisoner is accounted for in work area, including segregation housing units.

Q. Uses handcuffs, and physical force to maintain discipline and order among inmates.

R. Supervises and coordinates inmate workers assigned to work area. Submits MET according to Stone County Correctional Facility guidelines.

S. Performs all duties in accordance with MDOC Policy, Stone County Regional Correctional Facility Policy and Procedure, PREA Standards, and ACA Standards.

T. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
