Due to expansion, Northern Star (Pogo) LLC have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Maintenance Superintendent at our world-class Pogo operation in Alaska on a rotational camp schedule.

What\'s the role?

The Mill Maintenance General Foreman reports to the Processing Manager and the role is to provide maintenance services for mill and surface production areas, and miscellaneous services to the mine site and whose primary focus is to maximize maintenance and process effectiveness in all facets of the operation.

Duties include:
  • Coordinate the daily management, control and supervision of the working areas of the mill maintenance team in accordance with Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
  • Manage and develop the expertise of supervisors, planners and trades personnel by reviewing work methods and results, providing advice and counsel and participating in their selection, evaluation, and training.
  • Monitor maintenance work and projects to ensure maintenance work meets operational needs and Pogo Inc. and governmental standards.
  • Assist personnel by investigating maintenance problems, recommending solutions, providing technical direction and advice, providing assistance in the selection of equipment.
  • Develop a culture of high performance and behaviours that are consistent with agreed values.
  • Build and mentor the maintenance team ensuring performance objectives and measures are developed and assessed with a focus on high technical standards and continuous improvement.
  • Develop a succession plan for roles within the teams.
What are we looking for?

You\'ll be a highly organised individual who will display behaviour consistent to our Northern Star Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results, looking to work with the business for the long term and be an integral part in its future growth and development.

The specifics:
  • 5-10 years experience in fixed plant maintenance management, supervision, and preventative maintenance programs.
  • 3-5 years hands on industrial maintenance experience.
  • A background in electrical maintenance would be highly regarded.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering would be highly regarded.
  • Possess, at a minimum, a general understanding of reliability concepts and practices. Such as; Root Cause Failure Analysis, predictive maintenance, thermography, shock pulse/vibration, oil analysis, performance metrics and analytics.
  • Proficient in prioritising work and scheduling/planning.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy - Microsoft Office, Pronto or similar CMMS.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all maintenance tasks.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  • Experience in the practical application of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
  • Be able to pass a background check and post offer physical.
The Details:

Working a 15 day on/13 day off schedule of 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to, extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
