The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Maintenance Specialist, Plumbing, Journey 2/Lead position at Hiland Mountain Correctional Center (HMCC) located in Eagle River, Alaska.

What you will be doing:
Install, maintain, and repair all facility plumbing at the Hiland Mountain Correctional Center in accordance with the Uniform Plumbing Code and local plumbing code. Properly select and perform work at a professional level with steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, cast iron pipe and composting materials. Provide assistance to other maintenance staff, and perform other duties as assigned.

The working conditions you can expect:

Hiland Mountain Correctional Center is the State of Alaska\'s designated facility for confinement and treatment of female prisoners. Located in Eagle River, Alaska, it is a peaceful, private, heavily wooded setting, with breathtaking views of the Chugach Mountains. The institution includes 11 buildings, containing approximately 120,000 square feet of space. It sits on approximately 62.7 acres of land adjacent to Eagle River, Alaska. It has the capacity for approximately 400 prisoners.

We are looking for an employee who has the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Possession of valid State of Alaska Journeyman Plumber Fitness Card;

Ability to read blueprints, plans, schematics, specifications, and operate two-way radios;

Knowledge of uniform building codes;

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.

Minimum Qualifications

This job class is part of a series of competency based class specifications created for career areas within the Labor, Trades, and Crafts Unit. EDUCATION

CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS/APSIN/ACOMS
Please be aware - this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.

DRIVER\'S LICENSE REQUIREMENT
